GPI is founded in Houston in 1984. Jeff Springmeyer serves as president.
1985
GPI begins acquiring speculative data in Vermilion Parish, Louisiana.
1987
Company begins long-term relationship with WesternGeco (previously Western Geophysical), jointly acquiring proprietary rights in the Camerina Trend 2-D survey. By 2004, GPI and WesternGeco will have completed 50 joint ventures.
1988
Larry Galloway opens New Orleans office.
1995
GPI acquires first 3-D survey, partnering with WesternGeco in the Galveston/Trinity Bay region.
1997
GPI begins first offshore 3-D program, in partnership with PGS. This deepwater survey expands to more than 700 blocks in the Western Gulf of Mexico.
2004
GPI partners with WesternGeco on long offset (30,000 feet) deep-shelf 3-D program.
2008
GPI partners with Geokinetics on speculative 3-D seismic survey in Bradford County, Pennsylvania.
2009
GPI celebrates 25 years in business on May 21, 2009.
2013
GPI and Seismic Exchange, Inc. formed SEI-GPI JV, LLC on March 28, 2013 to acquire certain marketing rights of the Global Geophysical Services (GGS) 3-D database. GPI acts as the exclusive broker of the ~9,200 square mile GGS 3-D database.
